2007 Testimonials

November 13, 2007 - My son and I used several of your components and products to build his car. We also used the tips in your book. His car won the Cub Scout pack championship and placed second in the district race! We were pleased with the results and will use your products next year. Thank you.

November 6, 2007 - Just a note to let you know that the materials we purchased from you made it possible for my grandson Tyler to win the his pack pinewood derby competition hands down! The car came out perfect with very little effort. The car went undefeated and won the Wolf division, and was the overall pack winner. The car easily won every race by more than a car length. Thank you for your help; we look forward to next year's competition.

October 26, 2007 - My son and I ordered several of your tools including the Pro-Axel Press, the Pro Body Tool, the Pro Hub Tool, a wheel mandrel, and your axel polishing kit. Result: First place in the Pack out of roughly 65 entries!! He wasn't able to participate in our district race due to a previous commitment but no matter - the Pack win itself was worth
our investment five times over. Thank you!!! The best part about your tools is an 8-year-old can, with a little guidance, do most of the work by himself. And really, at the end of the day that's the whole idea, isn't it?

October 20, 2007 - Thank you for the help with the order, the advice and suggestions after the sale. Between your products, and advice, we are the champions. This was a charity event amongst businesses. Last year was our first year in the event and we placed third. This year, I studied more, tried some different things, but really asked the right guy the right questions - you. Thank you again, it was a great team experience, we contributed to a great cause and we won!

May 8, 2007 - Just wanted you to know that my son used exclusively Maximum Velocity parts, and won his BSA Pack and District. He was undefeated in every heat. Wow - you guys know what you're doing!

April 18, 2007 - Using the advice from your website, my son and I built a pinewood derby car for this season. He placed first in the pack and went on to the district championship race last Saturday. He placed first in the Wolf division and won the overall district championship with the most heats run, fastest race average and fastest calculated speed at 192 mph. The time spent with my son building the car and explaining why we were doing certain things (reducing friction, aerodynamics etc) was priceless. Thank you for making this year's derby a success for us.

Craig F. -
April 4, 2007 - Thanks again for all of your assistance. My son Bryant's car not only handily won his Pack Championship with record setting times, but also won the District Championship with a new course record. You were very helpful throughout our car construction process, and my son and I can both personally attest to the quality and the performance of your products which are unmatched---thanks again.

March 27, 2007 - This was the third year for my son to participate in the Royal Ambassador Racer Derby. The first two years were enjoyable, but his cars did not perform well either year. This year our RA group determined that we would make a more organized effort to make a good showing. We ordered your 'Maximum Velocity' instructions.

My son and I both built cars and closely followed your instructions. What a difference!!!!!!! In our local associational race my son finished first in his division (out of approximately 45 cars). I finished first in the adult division (this was the first year that I entered a car for myself).

The following week, we participated in the regional race and again won first place in both divisions. We couldn't believe it!!! Two weeks later we participated in the state race. We didn't make quite as good a showing, but my son still managed to place 9th out of 24 cars. The competition is
definitely tighter at that high of a level. This was the first time our church had ever participated in the regional race, not to mention the state race. We are already making plans for next year. Thanks for your help.

John H. -
March 26, 2007 - My son and I built the Wing, and it won handily in every race. In each heat the race officials kept making comments like, "and it wins again". Yes, he won it all! Out of 23 cars he finished in 1st place. Many dads have asked what the secret is, and since he has several more years of racing, I begrudgingly gave out our secret; Maximum Velocity has all the secrets.

March 20, 2007 - I found your website last fall when my son's pack had its Raingutter Regatta. I came back again for the Pinewood Derby. This was my son's first pinewood derby car, and I hadn't built a derby car since I was a scout over 30 years ago. I bought your Car Plans 4 and Speed to the Finish books. Both were very useful and easy to follow. We used them to build the Sports Car for my son's race. His race was on Friday, and I am happy to report that he easily won his Tiger scout den races. The finals for his pack consisted of the top six cars, regardless of den. His car was the only non-Weblos car in the finals, and he finished 3rd in his pack. Now it is off to the district race. Thanks!

Andy C. -
March 20, 2007 - I just wanted to say thanks. We signed up for your newsletter and used the Standard Speed Bolt design. What a car. My son won his Tiger Cubscout division and 1st Place for the entire Pack. They have never seen a Tiger Cub win the overall speed trophy. Your speed tips were invaluable. My son enjoyed the entire experience of tracing, cutting, sanding, and painting. And when he won both trophies he was beaming. What a great day. Thank you so much.

March 19, 2007 - Using your tools and guidence, my younger son, who is a Tiger, won 1st Place at the Pack meet, 2nd Place at the District in his class, and placed 7th overall in the 15 car District Grand Championship. Quite a first year! His older brother, who is a Webelo 2, took 1st at the Pack, 1st at the District for his class, and went on to take 1st Place overall in the District Grand Championship!! He's moving up to Boy Scouts in a couple of months, so this was his last year of eligibility as a Cub Scout in the Pinewood Derby. What a great way to close things out! Both of my kids were really happy to have placed so high among that field. Thanks for helping us to produce great memories - and a bag full of awards.

Linda L. -
March 19, 2007 - I used your outlaw wheels and won 1st Place in the Open Competition today - left everyone in the dust! My daughter's car won 1st Place for fastest car in her class as well!!! Thank you for your advice, and thanks for the information and 'how-to' on your website. I really helped us both win and have a great day together.

DR -
March 17, 2007 - Thanks again for all that you provide. We had our pack derby race Saturday, and my oldest son won 1st and his younger brother won 2nd. They get to go to the district race next month. Even though they won, I feel like I won working with them to put the cars together.

Gerry & Jack D. -
March 17, 2007 - I would just like to thank you for the great information. After my son Jack came in last place in every heat last year, I knew I had to do something to ease the disappointment this year. He saw the 'Missle' design last year, but I didn't think I had the skill to make it. But this year I ordered it and helped him build the car. In the first heat his car broke the track record, and he never looked back, winning every heat he entered. 1st place and a trip to district finals next week! I told everyone who asked about your site, and heard jokes that there will be twenty Missle cars in next year's race. Thank you so much; the happiness in my boy's eyes told the entire story.

Alan R. -
March 17, 2007 - 1st Place with your wheels and axles - thanks! I will recommend you to my friends and family.

John U. -
March 17, 2007 - I want to extend my sincere thanks for your tips and supplies. A few hours ago my son took 1st Place in his overall group.

Bill K. -
March 15, 2007 - I wanted to extend a huge thanks to you for your website and wonderful materials available. I first heard about you last summer when my sons (Tiger scout and Bear scout) were involved in the annual Raingutter Regatta. My youngest took 1st place with his Catamaran. Well, we moved into Pinewood Derby season with the help of your guides and tips. My sons took 1st and 2nd place in their Pack race last Sunday. Even I was amazed at how fast the cars were. One didn't lose a race and the other lost only 2 races, both to his big brother. I so much appreciate your Christian approach to helping families with the Pinewood Derby projects. You run a great business with Integrity, a rare find in this day and age.

Joe -
March 12, 2007 - We did it; we won 1st place! We never lost a race and surprisingly we set a new track record. Wow, what a thrilling day! Thanks again for your kind follow-up email. Take care!

Dave O. -
March 11, 2007 - My godson went undefeated in his pack pinewood derby today. No one was even close; he set a new track record as well. You can imagine how excited he was - I haven't seen my Godson that happy in a LONG time!!! Besides the usual stuff that we learned in your book, and all the products we bought from you, the Pro Ultra Lite Wheels made a big difference. Your interaction and customer service is second to none. Once again, you have one extremely well satisfied customer!!

Dave Noble of Kansas City. -
March 10, 2007 - I am walking on Cloud 9! I just got back from a big corporate race. In the 'Classic Division', where only stock wheels are allowed, I entered two cars and got 1st and 2nd place. In the 'Open Division', where ball bearings are allowed, I entered two cars and got 1st and 2nd place. All of my cars set track records, including the second place cars. Thanks for all your help. I could not have done this with out your willingness to work with me on getting the best components.

Julian D. -
March 8, 2007 - Running on a set of your ultralite wheels and super speed axels, I won all 8 heats to take 1st in my Pack's Pinewood Derby this past Saturday. Now it's on to a Regional race!

Steve W. -
March 7, 2007 - I want to thank you for the information and tools you provide. My son Shane finished 1st overall this year. He was elated!!

Joe & Joey P. -
March 6, 2007 - Thanks again for another successful Pinewood Derby season. With the Stealth Plans, my son finished 1st in the Den and 2nd in the Pack. Your booklets make it easy, and we tell everyone about maximum-velocity.com when they ask about our cars. Most importantly, each year my son, now a third grade Bear, takes on more of the hands on building duties. It is amazing how much of the car an eight year old can build with some guidance and the help of your car building plans.

Matt L. -
March 6, 2007 - Thank you for all the great products you offer. They allowed my son and myself to build a car that won 1st Place in the den and has sent us to the district finals! Now if I can keep from touching the car until the finals we will be ok.

Melissa S. -
March 5, 2007 - I just wanted to send you a quick note to express my appreciation for your superior products and service. As a single mom, this was my son's and my first derby. After looking at all the products available, I realized that to be competitive, we needed to do some planning and research. We ordered the Detonator kit and a body skin to shorten our prep time. I simply hammered in the wheels and axles and applied a graphite lube. We came in second in the Wolf den (loosing only to the 1st place pack winner) and third in the pack.
I'm so excited now that we're going on to the district race. I think I can make our car even faster. I just downloaded your speed tips book, and found things that I hadn't done right. We'll see how we do at the next race! You're a top performer who really delivers!

Greg L. -
March 5, 2007 - Thanks Maximum Velocity! Using your plans, kit, axles, and wheels my son was able to win his Den, Pack, and District Den, and he had the fastest car in the entire district.

Zach & Tom M. -
March 3, 2007 - Thanks for the great wheels and tungsten weights, not to mention the racing tips - we took 1st Place in our pack!

Charlie B. -
March 1, 2007 - My son, Tyler, took 1st Place in his den and overall for the entire pack. This a repeat performance from the previous year where he won both categories also that year. This is a large cub scout pack and we are fortunate to have done this two years in a row. Your products have made this possible to accomplish. Keep up the good work and quality products!

Richard G. -
February 26, 2007 - The Detonator kit took first place out of 60 cars, at the Chagrin Falls, Ohio Eagles Club Pinewood derby. This is an event for adults, so the competition was very talented. Thanks!

Steve H. -
February 25, 2007 - I wanted to thank you for your generosity in giving me so much excellent advice over the past year. You may recall that in January I entered an adults-only race sponsored by a local radio station that requires the PineCar kits. I went to you with questions about wheel and axle prep, alignment, wheel spacing, etc. You were always available to help. Using much of your advice I made two cars for that race, and out of 73 adult entries, my two cars placed first and second. I entered one of those two cars in the WIRL Rookie race last week, and it won a convincing first place out of five. Not a large field, but presumably all experienced builders even though they, like me, are new to WIRL racing. I look forward to working with you in the future as my supplier for high performance pinewood derby components. Thanks again.

February 24, 2007 - Just wanted to say a big thank you to Randy and all the employees at Maximum Velocity!!! Last night was our Awana Grand Prix race, and what a great time it was for all who were there. Going into this years race, I had one goal in mind; to de-throne the 4 year running speed champ in the open class. I had to build cars for myself, my wife, and my two children. So, I got on-line and found your web sight (very user friendly I might add). I found all these really neat speed tools, and a speed tips book. So I bought all the tools and downloaded the book, and got to work. Everyone helped as much as they could on their own car - I think that's very important. The day of the race, my car was pulling hard to the left. Not knowing how to correct this problem, I called and spoke with Randy. Thanks for the help! Long story short, my 7 year old son took 3rd place in design in the SPARKS division. My wife took 2nd place design in the open division. My 9 year old daughter took 1st place in speed in the T&T division, and I de-throned the old speed champ. My car never lost a single heat. Oh, the sweet smell of victory! What a special night it was to come home with all four of us holding a trophy. I attribute our two speed wins to all the speed tricks I learned from your book, and NyOil II. I've just subscribed to your Pinewood Derby Times, and look forward to every issue. Thanks again.

February 21, 2007 - I just wanted to let you know that my son and I used your free plans to create our own Speed Bolt (our creation was the 'Lightening Bolt'). At his Awana Grand Prix race this evening, my son's car took second place overall and lost in the finals by less than an inch. He was thrilled to be bringing home a trophy at his very first race. Thank you for all of your helpful ideas and tips. They really paid off.

Jim W. -
February 12, 2007 - I just wanted to thank you for the the great products that you sell. My son has won the Pack Championship for the last two years because of the superior products that you provide.

BW -
February 16, 2007 - My son and I wanted to send you a huge 'thank you' for the quality and performance of your materials that we purchased several months ago! We competed in our third pinewood derby and once again, were crowned the pack champion - third year in a row!! (With one more to go!) We were absolutely impressed with how the car accelerated past everyone on its way down the hill - attributed to the thin wall and lack of weight on the wheels. That's the first time we've ever seen that kind of performance. We WILL be ordering from you again this summer, and are already planning a new design for next year. Thanks again for such awesome products!

Vincent P. -
February 16, 2007 - I want to thank you and commend you for the quality of your parts and racing tips. My son Dominic and I made a tiger-striped wedge (he likes the Cincinnati Bengals) that won every heat, and came in first overall among the Tiger and Wolf dens in our pack. We will be racing the winners of the Bear and Webelos dens tonight, and win or lose, my son is absolutely thrilled. Thanks again.

P.S. We raced off against the winners of the Bear and Webelo dens last night, and I am pleased to report that we won the Pack championship. We're seriously considering taking our car to the District races, and I don't think we could have done it without your great advice and derby car parts. Thanks again!

Jessica A. -
February 14, 2007 - Thank you for all of your support over the last several years. Last year my son placed first in his division and held the second place track record for our pack. We went to the District race and finished seventh. This year he won first place in his division, as well as breaking the track record three times; the car just kept getting faster with every run. We just finished the District race, and he placed first in his division as well as having the fastest time for the track. Needless to say we are very exited! We know that had it not been for your specialty tools, weights, and book this would not have happened.

February 5, 2007 - I ordered some of your supplies a couple of months ago. My son is a Tiger Cub, just starting Cub Scouts this year. Not only did he beat his den this past weekend in the Pinewood Derby, he was the entire Pack Champion and set the track record. I am not an experienced builder or pinewood racer - the only thing we did was rely on your products. I am quite pleased with the quality you delivered. The smile on my son's face when he stood in the winner's circle was well worth it! Thanks for everything.

Bob N. -
January 31, 2007 - Just thought you would like to know that my son won his Pack's Pinewood Derby this year - thanks in large part to your parts.

Rachel R. -
January 29, 2007 - Thank You Maximum Velocity! We purchased two kits from you and won 1st and 2nd place overall! My son is a Tiger Cub so it was our first time and we had a blast. My daughter ran the other car in the open class and she won that, then raced her brother and got 2nd. Thank you again - we had lots of fun!

Bruce W. -
January 30, 2007 - My eight year old twin sons participated in our Cub Scout's race last night. Out of thirty cars we place 2nd and 4th. The whole family experienced a wonderful, positive family outing. My wife told me that in the carpool on the way to school this morning that my twins said it was the best night of their lives. We could not have done it without your help, and are anxiously waiting next year.

Bob W. -
January 29, 2007 - Just wanted to let you know that we ran our car in the Pinewood Derby on Saturday night and destoryed the competition, bringing home 1st Place trophies for my son's age group and the overall competition. Everyone, including us, were completely amazed. The car seemed to be picking up speed even at the end of the track - if that's possible! Needless to say, my son was ecstatic (he's 7 years old and this was his first race) and it was a great night. Thanks for your helpful hints and the tools to get it done.

Matt & Reese -
January 29, 2007 - My son's, Reese's, car won the entire pack race! We conditioned our wheels using the pro-mandrel, pro hub tool, and pro-outer hub shaver. For less then $24 in tools from Maximum Velocity, we built a winning car. In the open class, I used the needle axle outlaw wheels. They performed exceptionally, and we also won the open class in our pack. Not too bad for a first try; thanks for the help!

Don H. -
January 27, 2007 - I wanted to let you know how my Son and mines cars did at our Pinewood Derby this year. We used your BSA speed wheels and axles on a rail type and a truck (mine was the truck). After his first Den race, I knew my son's car was going to take it all. He was beating the other cars in his Den by 2 or 3 feet! In the Pack race, he had one Webelo 2 come close to him, but not close enough. He was a very happy camper to say the least. So, he was first in Den, and first in Pack! In the Leaders race, my truck won every race by 2 or 3 feet, just like my Son's car. His beat mine in a Parent / Sons race. I can tell you what gave use the advantage this year, it was your speed wheels. I can't thank you enough for your wonderful products! Talk to you soon, and keep up the great work!

Mike S. -
January 27, 2007 - My son is a Wolf Scout, and we built the extended wheelbase Racer this year. In previous years we had built cars using the recommendations of others. But what was missing was the 'fine points'. So this year we purchased a few tools and the Maximum Velocity plans. The results were a pleasant surprise. My son won 1st Place in the Pack with over 45 cars. In each heat his car consistently led from the start and increased distance on the flat part of the track. His was the only car to beat the Cubmaster, who had the track in his basement for 4 months prior! Needless to say, I highly recommend your products.

Dan A. -
January 26, 2007 - It has been a pleasure doing business with you this year. Your Speed to the Finish booklet and car plans were a great help to us, especially with three cars to build. The official scout car placed third in the pack race. The other two 'sibling' cars beat everyone and swapped beating each other. All of my children had fun building the cars and racing. They really liked winning; their smiles and excitement as they watched their cars win was priceless. I will recommend your web site to all the other dads - after the races of course!

Brad H. -
January 22, 2007 - Thank you again for providing this website, all of the great tips and designs, and especially for your testimony via the philosophy section. God bless you! Zachary and I had a blast building his Formula One race car via the specifications you gave us. Our goal was to have fun and get the car down the track without the wheels falling off! We accomplished that, and by the grace of God ... a whole lot more. The race was this past Saturday. Zachary finished second in his den and third in the Pack. This means he qualifies for the district races in the near future (guess we'll have to do some more work to make it ev en faster!). In addition, he won Most Creative for the Formula One design (which we painted blue and added a gold bear figure to as a driver to make it his 'Bear Cub Racer"). What a blast!

Kevin C. -
January 22, 2007 - I wanted to take a moment to once again say thanks for another successful year. My son picked your Sports Car off the web this year and took 2nd this past weekend in a very close race. Each year I run this race for our pack, and there's nothing more rewarding than watching those smiles. Our family always comes back to your site and plans year after year, and as I told our pack in a derby building class, "Maximum Velocity is a site you can order from and deal with in total confidence". Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks again for a great service. I know my son will look forward to pouring over your pages next year for his last race and picking that very last pinewood derby car design! Until then have a great year!

Dave -
January 22, 2007 - We had our Pinewood Derby this weekend and my son's car won his entire pack. We didn't really know what to expect as this was our first Derby. Winning was quite a surprise for us (and the rest of the pack). Your book and products helped so much. We used your tungsten cylinders and BBs for the weight, along with the Pro-Axle Tool and Advanced Speed Kit. Looking at the Derby times from 2005, we were quicker than any of them, so we may have even set a track record. Thanks again for the great products from MaxV!!! You will have us forever as a customer."

Michelle N. -
January 22, 2007 - We are just writing to let you know that our little Tiger Cub, Maxx, entered his first Pinewood Derby race. We used one of your plans, purchased some weights and materials online, and off we went. Maxx's car won 1st place in the Tiger Cub races, then all of the 1st place winners raced and he won Grand Champion !!!!!!!!! We were so excited. Thank you so much for your outstanding service. We will definitely be ordering from you again, and again.

Jack D. -
January 21, 2007 - Greetings. My son Blake just completed his first pinewood derby this weekend. We used your Rod car design. His car, Blue Flame, looks really cool and qualified for the districts (he won Best in Show and 2nd Place in overall speed. He was beside himself. Thanks for the easy to follow step by step directions!

Chris & Blake K. -
January 21, 2007 - It was our first derby, and my son and I totally blew away the competition by as much as 1-2 car lengths at times! We won first in every heat and 1st overall. Thanks, for an awesome car. We used the Detonator with extended axle holes.

Renee B. -
January 20, 2007 - We used your Speeder Kit with the Ultalight Speed Wheels and Speed Axles for my son's Pinewood Derby race. My husband and son had a great time building the car and preparing for race day. We are happy to report that my son won 1st Place in his den and was awarded Fastest in the Pack! Thank you for making these speed supplies available for purchase.

Susan H. -
January 20, 2007 - Thanks again for your great site. We have been using your site for 3 years and again have great results to report. Yesterday, Alex raced in the pack pinewood derby and burned up the track!! He set a new track record on his first heat and went on to beat it in each and every heat all day. The track record for scouts is 201.7MPH!! It is with the information you provided here that I, as a single mom with little woodworking talent and limited tools, was able to help my son smile from ear to ear. He won every race yesterday for the den and the pack and is off to Districts!! The car was a simple design, a thin wedge and this year was decorated in a patriotic theme. Nothing fancy, nothing incredible to look at but man does it fly! Thank you again. Your site has made a little boy extremely happy.

Sean C. -
January 15, 2007 - Just wanted to thank you for the Pro Ultra Lite Speed Wheels and Super Speed Axles. I have triplets that competed last weekend, and they finished 1st, 2nd, and 4th. The 4th place missed out third by 0.001 seconds. Great products and great customer service!

Roger & Ryan S. -
Well, thanks to the use of your website and polishing kits, we won our derby today, for the second year in a row!!! We are now two year undefeated champs!!!!!!! Thank you for a great site, and supplies. We will be ordering from you again for our next race.

Darrin M. -
January 9, 2007 - We received our order on Jan 5th, only a few days after the order was made. The quality and service that you provide are excellent. We have a trophy for every year that we used your tools and products. This is our last year. My son and I have spent a lot of hours working together in the garage. Thank you for helping to make our cub scout pinewood derby experience a positive one!

Robert B. -
January 6, 2007 - As the pack racing season came to a close today, my son's pinewood car won his Den and Pack for the 3rd straight year; we've been undefeated the whole time. He'll move onto District and then Council in a couple of weeks. Since I bought your products, it has drastically improved the cars performance. I have bought every little tool from you to make the cars better, but it wasn't just a money thing, it made us all learn about the dynamic movement of the cars, physics and engineering. Together we learned that hard work and a little ingenuity pays off. I never thought that we would receive this much joy from a 7 inch piece of wood. Just think of all the scrap wood I have thrown away in my life - if only I had known!

P.S My Open Class car outfitted with the bearing axles and disk wheels SMOKED 'em today. On a 42 foot track my car beat them by no less than 6 feet.
