MAXIMUM VELOCITY! ®
Extended Racer

There's no doubt who is steering this car, and THE RACER is determined to win.
In addition to the car kit and basic hand tools, you will need the following supplies to build THE RACER:
- 1/2" or 7/16" Brad Point or Forstner drill bit (hardware store item)
- Coping saw, or another type of saw that can cut a curve
- Wood chisel (1/2" or smaller)
- Shoe rasp (Hardware store item)
- Toy Driver (a Lego figure works well)
- 3-1/4 ounces of segmented lead weight with adhesive removed. These plans assume that each segment is 1/4 ounce and measures 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/8".
- Stripes and Flames, Custom Designs, and Cobra decal sheets were used to customize the car in the photo
- The extended wheel base can be created by either cutting new axle slots with two hacksaw blades, or by drilling axle holes with the Pro-Body Tool. Instructions and templates are provided in the Car Plans 2 booklet.
The RACER in the photo above is currently on exhibition in a traveling science exhibit entitled "Speed". Anchored by 20 original interactive devices created by COSI Studio, this 6000 square foot national traveling exhibition explores the human fascination with going fast, and the physics and math that make it possible.
