Say "Goodbye" to burrs and crimp marks! Official BSA Speed Axles come right from the Cub Scout Grand Prix Pinewood Derby® Kit, and have been prepped for you. You can use these axles as is, or give them a light polishing if desired.
- Straight Shaft - These axles have burrs and crimps marks removed, a slightly tapered head, and are polished through 1500 grit paper.
- Grooved Shaft -
These axles have burrs and crimps marks removed, four grooves to minimize axle contact, a slightly tapered head, and are polished through 1500 grit paper.

To achieve top speed, your wheels must be accurately and carefully prepared. Using our specialty tools, you can certainly prepare a fine set of wheels. However, here is a great alternative for Cub Scout races.

"Which Cub Scout/BSA Speed Wheels are right for you? Well, for top speed, the 5065/66 wheels are the fastest, but they are more radically machined and can raise eyebrows (even if they conform to the rules). A good compromise are the 5080/81 wheels. These are much faster than standard wheels, conform to most rules, and and do not look particularly different than stock Cub Scout/BSA wheels.
