T-Tool Weight Drilling Jig
for Pinewood Derby Cars

T-Tool Weight Drilling Jig

Out of Stock
  From Randy:
"The T-Tool is a clever and easy to use drilling jig. It greatly simplifies drilling weight holes in the back, bottom or side of a pinewood derby block."

Simplify and Increase Accuracy of Weight Placement

For top speed weight needs to be accurately placed. Now anyone can create accurate weight holes for tungsten cylinders, lead wire, or tundra rod with only a hand drill..

The T-Tool is a precision-machined, aluminum jig that will improve the speed of your pinewood derby car through accurate weight placement. The T-Tool:

  1. Ensures accurate weight placement by allowing you to drill precise weight holes into the side, back, or bottom of a pinewood derby block1.

  2. Can drill straight holes, or holes at a slightly downward angle for wedge-shaped cars.

The guide holes in the T-Tool are sized for a 25/64 inch drill bit (perfect for tungsten and lead). The drill bit is not included (sold separately).

To use the T-Tool, follow the instructions included with the jig, or the instructions below. Click on any of the small pictures to view a larger picture.

1A clamp or vise is required to use the tool (not included).

T-Tool Usage Instructions

Test Fit
Test Fit
  1. Test fit the T-Tool on the end of the block with the two ‘ears’ positioned on the sides of the block. If the block is too wide for the tool, use coarse grit sandpaper to reduce the width of the block until the tool fits snuggly onto the block. If the block is too narrow for the tool, insert a piece of paper - folded as many times as needed - between one ear of the tool and the block such that the tool fits snuggly onto the block.

Angled Holes
Rear Drilling - Orient Tool
  1. For drilling straight holes into the rear of the block, place the text "Angled Surface" away from the block. For drilling angled holes (for wedge-shaped blocks), place the text "Angled Surface" against the end of the block..

Clamp and Drill
Clamp and Drill
  1. Clamp the Tool in place.

  2. Mark the desired drilling depth on the drill bit with masking tape.

  3. Drill one, two, or three holes in the back of the block.

Bottom Drilling
Bottom Drilling
  1. For bottom drilling, orient the tool as shown in the photo. Place the text "Angled Surface" away from the car body.

  2. Clamp the tool in place, mark the drilling depth on the drill bit, and drill the desired number of holes.

Side Drilling
Side Drilling
  1. For side drilling, orient the tool as shown in the photo. Place the text "Angled Surface" away from the car body.

  2. Clamp the tool in place, mark the drilling depth on the drill bit, and drill the desired number of holes.
