Steel Weight - 3 ouncesa
for Pinewood Derby Cars

These Steel Weights are an environmentally friendly, inexpensive weight for pinewood derby cars. They are more dense and less expensive than zinc weights, but not as dense as lead or tungsten.

Here is a comparison of the relative density of weight types. Density is measured in g/cm3. A higher number means that the weight is more dense, and will take less space on a pinewood derby car.

How to Use this Product

These Steel Weights measure 3/16 x 3/16 x 1-1/4 inches, and weigh 0.19 ounces each. Your 3 ounce shipment of Steel Weights contains sixteen pieces.

These weights are generally applied to pinewood derby cars by creating one or more pockets on the bottom of the car to accomodate the weight. The weights are then glued in place with epoxy. These Steel Weights are very hard, so do not plan to drill or cut them. Instead, use an alternate method to make fine adjustments such as tungsten putty, tungsten beads, screws, etc.

a3 ounces nominal weight - actual weight ranges from 2.9 to 3.0 ounces.
