Virtually Designed for Pinewood Derby Builders!

The Incra 6 inch Precison Bend Rule is the best ruler for pinewood derby car layout. It is not only highly accurate, but has several features that cater to the pinewood derby enthusiast. The rule is specifically designed to fit over the edge of a block in order to make precise measurement with ease. The rule is marked in 1/32 inch increments, and at each increment is a hole and a slot that allows insertion of a 0.5 mm pencil (standard mechanical pencil size). These holes and slots eliminate the inaccuracy that comes with trying to make a pencil mark along the side of a regular ruler.

Making a Measurement

Place the rule on the edge of the block, line up the end and mark the desired location with a 0.5 mm pencil. Either the slot or hole in the rule can be used to mark the location.
Locating Axle Holes

Using the end of the rule, mark the axle hole position. Typically 1/8 inch is used.
Horizontal Line

Insert the pencil at the desired location, and slide the rule along the edge of the block.

Finding the Center of the Block

Lay the wide side of the rule on the top/bottom of the block. Draw a line. Then place the rule on the opposite edge and draw another line. The center of the block will be between the two lines (or coincident with the two lines if the block is exactly 1-3/4 inches wide).
