MAXIMUM VELOCITY! ®
Extended Rocket

The ultimate in minimal-body vehicles, THE ROCKET wastes no time as it moves its sleek chassis down the track.
Using lead wire (as designed) the center of gravity of THE ROCKET is not as far to the rear as the other designs in the Advanced Car Plans booklet. However, tungsten cylinders can be substituted with minimal changes, resulting in a shift of the center of gravity closer to the rear axle.
In addition to the car kit and basic hand tools, you will need the following supplies to build THE ROCKET:
- 25/64" Brad Point or Forstner drill bit - a 3/8" bit may work as well (hardware store item)
- Coping saw and Hacksaw blade
- Files - Triangular and shoe rasp (hardware store item)
- 5-1/4" piece of 3/8" lead wire
- 1/4 ounce of small split fishing shot
- 3/8" dowel rod (at least 5" long)
- Drag Racer decal sheet was used to customize the car in the photo
- The extended wheel base can be created by either cutting new axle slots with two hacksaw blades, or by drilling axle holes with the Pro-Body Tool. Instructions and templates are provided in the Advanced Car Plans booklet.
